"The Dreamer" - Patssi Valdez

About the Artist

"The Dreamer" was painted in 2002 in the acrylic on canvass media. The 30'' by 24'' 5 painting has a very interesting blend

of colors in the sky. Blue is the primary color used, which signifies depression, and "The Dreamer" is holding a handkerchief in her

hand as if she had been crying. The subject is painted with a starry sky behind her and her eyes tightly shut as if she is dreaming of

what she longs. She is holding a red rose in her hand, close to her heart, as if the reality of her dream is held inside it.

"The Dreamer" was chosen for the Power Gallery because it appealed to the little girl inside all women. The picture

conveys not only a sense of innocence due to her implied tears, but also a great power through that innocence. Young women do no

know their limits and fight for everything, but the greatest power that can be found in a woman is not the ability to fight, but the ability

to make one's dreams a reality.
